IPSY Bag Review September 2013

Fair warning, I hated this month’s Ipsy Bag and I’m pretty upset about it. I’ve been loving Ipsy for the past few months and I’ve been getting more than amazing bags, but this month was a total fail for me! Shown above is the bag, the info. card with the brands included this month (varies by bag), and an em makeup brochure.
Box: Ipsy is a monthly subscription service for beauty products.
Price: $10/month.
Contents: 4-5 beauty products personalized to your profile, determined by a beauty/style quiz. Not everyone gets the same products!

EM is Michelle Phan’s new makeup line, and this little foldout was meant to give a little sample card of one of her palettes. It would have been cool, except no sample was included in mine. Strike 1.
Starlooks Eye Kohl Pencil in ‘Obsidian’ (Value $12):
This is a full-size black eyeliner from a brand I’ve heard a lot of good things about. Happy about this!
Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big! Volumizing Mascara (Value $8):
I’ve never heard of this brand, but the packaging is cute and mascara is one of my essentials, so I’m excited to try!

John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo/Conditioner (Value $2-3 total?):
These pissed me off. First of all, I tried them before, and they suck. Secondly, how can IPSY justify sending me 2 items worth less than $5 total, when they are sending other people $20 eyeliners?!? I understand that items vary from bag to bag, but I believe that the values should be at least a bit similar. It just seems unfair to send a subscriber a bag worth $30 and another subscriber (who pays exactly the same amount), a bag worth $70.

NYX Eyeshadow in ‘Sparkle White’ (Value $4.50):
I love NYX eyeshadows, and love getting full-sized products! The shade of this is a bit pearly also.
Final Thoughts: Well this bag sucked for me, but the value was still around $28, which is great considering the bag is only $10 with shipping. I emailed IPSY about my disappointment and missing sample, so I’ll update this post if they get back to me. Although some of this month’s items a miss for me, I appreciate the high value and would still recommend IPSY. Hopefully they just make things a little more equal from now on!
