My Ireland Box Review November 2013

I recently got contacted by My Ireland Box to see if I wanted to review their subscription, and I gladly said yes! I absolutely love traveling and believe it or not, have always had this strange obsession with Ireland (It’s on my top places to go list!) so I very excited to see what was inside. I always wanted to try out a ‘experience overseas’ type of box too, and it’s actually become one of my favorite types of boxes! There is a regular sized box and a mini, this is the regular sized. Also since this is my first box from My Ireland Box there are a lot of pictures!

Box: My Ireland Box gives you a little taste of Ireland with Irish Craft shipped to your door each month.
Price: $40/month. (Estimated, price is 30 euros.) About $25/month (17.50 euros) for the mini box.
Contents: Unique Irish/Irish-related products.

Inside on the cover of the box.
First look inside. I love the green!

The information card, complete with pictures! Love when info. cards have pictures.
Appletree Press ‘Irish Myths and Legends’ (Value $18):
What a fantastic thing to put in a box when learning/exploring a foreign country! This is such a fun book yet something that can teach you about Ireland’s culture; I absolutely love it.
Here is an example from the book, it’s more encyclopedia style than long paragraphs.

‘Little Buttons and Bows’ Hand Knit Mug Warmer (Value $8):
I think when I thought about the contents of this box, I more so thought it was going to be Ireland related things or representatives of Ireland. Because of that thought I was so happy to receive something that was actually handmade in Ireland, it made it so much more special! This is a great item that can warm up your mug, so cute!
See how it covers my iced soy latte? lol! It’s cute, and I thought it would be difficult over mugs with handles but the knitting has some grip.
Foods of Athenry Belgian Chocolate Biscuit Cake (Value $4?):
I was extremely happy to find a food item in the box as I definitely think when you experience some place new, a great way to do that is to discover and taste the food. (The food on my trips to Italy and Greece are unforgettable!)
Shannonbridge Pottery Mug (Value $8):
This mug is absolutely beautiful, and of course a great representation of Ireland!
Final Thoughts: I was completely thrilled with everything in this box, and I think it was a great curation of representations of Ireland! I was super ecstatic to receive something that was actually hand knit in Ireland, and I thought trying the food (biscuit) and learning about the local culture (book) were great additions. (And complete necessities to experience when traveling!) The value hit right on the money but the box is worth so much more in my opinion; this is a great way to experience bits and pieces of the country without actually going and I probably wouldn’t have found these treasures otherwise! I definitely felt like I experienced a little bit of Ireland in this box; it was very fun and I totally recommend it!
