Taste Guru Review April 2014 – Gluten-Free Subscription Box!

My April Taste Guru box was filled with adorable snack sized items this month; I can’t wait to dig in! On another note, I wish Taste Guru offered monthly subscriptions! The shortest term is a 3 month commitment.
Box: Taste Guru is a gluten-free subscription box.
Price: $34/month (free s/h) for 3 months ($102 total.)
Contents: 6-8 full-size gluten free products.
All the goodies!
Here are the information cards, and some recipes and coupons that were included.
Massel Concentrated Liquid Stock ‘Vegetable’ & ‘Chicken’ (Value $2 each):
It’s always useful to have some extra stock on hand, so I’m super happy to get this.
Nature Valley Roasted Nut Crunch ‘Almond Crunch’ & ‘Peanut Crunch’ (Value $0.50 each):
I’m not a fan of Nature Valley bars, but my husband really loves these! I’ll put them as a snack in his lunch 🙂

At the Table Together Gluten Free Flour Tortilla Mix (Value $4 each):
This would be fun to experiment with…if I had an oven! Ugh.
***UPDATE —You don’t need an oven for these! YAY! lol I obviously never made tortillas before 😛

Bella Gluten-Free Baking Mix (Value $3):
See oven-related comment above. I’m upset about this 🙁
***UPDATE — I’m pretty sure you don’t need an oven for pancakes either lol…I must have been extremely tired when I wrote this.

Love Original Roasted Seaweed (Value $0.75 each):
I love this seaweed so much, i’m going to treat myself to some after this post 🙂
Fiona’s All Natural Trail Mix ‘Mountain Blend’ (Value $4):
This is going to be a great snack to wake me up during those boring work days lol.

Final Thoughts: I really enjoyed this box, it was definitely my favorite! I think most of the things were very appealing to a wide range of tastes, so I wasn’t too picky with the things in this box like I usually am 🙂 I liked the snacks given, but I also think its rad how this box often comes with things to bake or prepare (even though I don’t have an oven); it definitely is a factor that sets itself apart from other boxes! With that being said, I will say the value was really low for this month. Even with regards to the value of getting all gluten-free items, I still only got $22.50 worth of product, and the box cost $34. Yikes!

I really wish that the rest of us recieved what you did. I'm on my second month of a 3 month subscription. While it came very late (instead of being shipped the 15 th of April, it didn't get here until May 5th). Many of us were told it was due to the holidays, understandable. What isn't cool is that they shorted many of us without explanation as well as included 2 items from March's box (dates and egg chips). Total items in box were 2 granola bars, 1 chicken stock, 1 bag of dates, 1 bag of egg chips, and 1 recipe card. 🙁

Oh my gosh! That's not right 🙁 I would let them know you were shorted and see what they say!

Good luck! I prepaid for 6 months – I signed up in January and it is now mid May however I have only been sent two boxes, yes ONLY two boxes! Taste Guru refuses to acknowledge they have any issues instead they have removed all of the complaints on their Facebook and Twitter pages and are no longer allowing people to make comments as so many people were complaining. When you email them it takes days for an answer if they answer at all. It is now May 12th – I have never been sent my pre-paid box for April and they have not answered my emails asking for my boxes or a refund. Based off of my experience I would never recommend this company!!! Take your money and go buy $25 worth of new items you have never tried before each month as it will save you a lot of time and energy rather than dealing with Taste Guru.

Sure wish I received this box… I subscribed and the first two boxes I received were fantastic. Then I did not receive the next two months… and when I emailed to inquire they said my package was in the mail. Today it arrived… in a small, unmarked box… with five SAMPLE size products and a bag of risotto. Ridiculous!

My first box from Taste Guru showed up in the nice box that you had pictured above. I never received an April box. My May box was THE SMALLEST SIZE PRIORITY MAIL BOX and it contained a few sample sized bars (like getting Snicker's Snack Size) and a package of Orzo.

And this was AFTER I tried to contact them. Don't bother trying to call as they never pick up. Emails give you a lot of excuses. They should let customers know if there is a problem on their side rather than seeing if anyone will contact them.
Seems to me like they pick and choose who they want the REAL sample boxes to go to. Can't see how they're listed as one of the top 10 Denver start ups taking the city by storm.

Frankly I'm very disappointed in the box I just received for May. Similar to what others posted. A package of GF pasta, 2 pieces of chocolate, 2 sample size bags of crackers and one soy joy bar. I composed an accounting of the box and it's value is $10!! I'm stunned. If this box is an indicator of future boxes I'll be contacting my credit card company and filing a dispute. I had a prior subscription to Taste Guru , found the box to be one of the best subscription boxes out there. The products were full size. The value of the box was equal to or exceeded what I had paid. I'm regretting having renewed my subscription and hope this was a one off.

I'm so sorry about your experience, it does seem they are disappointing so many of their customers! You should definitely try to dispute the charges.

It's May 29th and I've yet to RECEIVE my April box… they have cut off all Facebook communication and banned me from their site or sending them private messages because I had the nerve to ask where my April box was. This company is a fraud.
