Taste Guru Review November 2014 – Gluten Free Subscription Box!

Hi everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving weekend! I hope you all had a wonderful time chowing down on turkey with your family, and shopping for some deals after on Black Friday 🙂 Today I’m showing you a box that I’ve unboxed in the past, Taste Guru. I know in the past (6-ish months ago) this company seemed slacking in quantity of items and customer service, and many of you expressed your frustration to me on this blog, but I’ve found that this company has seemed to turn a new leaf, and I’m thoroughly impressed. New management has stepped in to turn this company around, and not only has prices been lowered, but the quality/quantity of products is surely evident in this box. They also have new packaging!

Box: Taste Guru is a gluten-free subscription box.

Price: $19/month with $5 s/h. ($24/month total)

Contents: 7-10 gluten free food items, with a mixture of full-size and sample-sized.

First look.

Here is the information card that delightfully has some pictures. What makes this stand out from the rest is that it lists ‘vegan’, ‘gluten free’, etc., next to each product! Super helpful for people with specific diet restrictions.

This box came with a magazine, “Living Without’s Gluten Free & More.” It seemed to be a Halloween edition, but I didn’t mind at all. I’m not sure if this box always comes with a magazine, but I thought it was a fabulous touch. (Value $4)

Fusion Jerky ‘Rosemary Citrus’ Artisan Turkey Jerky (Value $1.08?):
I realized this picture doesn’t even get a picture of the jerky. Fail. This jerky sounds great though! Never had turkey jerky before, but perfect for Thanksgiving.

Namaste Foods Gluten Free Homestyle Coating Mix (Value $4.69):
I know some people got a ‘Hot N Spicy’ variety of these, so I’m happy that I got the ‘normal’ one, as I don’t do spice. This looks delicious though.

The Bacon Jams Bacon Spread (Value $14.99):
Man, I’m so excited for this! Everyone raves about it, and I just want to slather it on some burgers.

Baobab Drink Mix ‘Peach Mango’ and ‘Meyer Lemon’ (Value $2.67 each):
Mmmmmm Peach Mango man! Unbelievable.

Flyjoy ‘Espresso’ (Value $2):
Made with quinoa, flax, chia seeds, and more! This is one of the healthiest snack bars I’ve ever gotten in a subscription box.

Vivian’s Tomato & Herb Soup Mix (Value $1.25):
I don’t like tomato soup, but my cousin is a vegan and I know she has trouble finding vegan friendly food. She’s going to love this.

Justin’s ‘Classic Peanut Butter’ and ‘Chocolate Hazelnut Butter’ (Value $0.50 each?):
These are a little smaller than usual, but I have tried these before and I love them! I especially love the peanut butter honey flavor.

Pik-Nik Sea Salt & Vinegar Shoestring Potatoes (Value $1.50 each):
I’m not a huge fan of sea salt & vinegar flavor, but I do love these little potato snacks!

Final Thoughts: The final tally for all of these items were a bit over $37, not including shipping. Seems like a great deal for a box that cost only $24! I didn’t mind getting a mix of full-sized items and deluxe samples, and there was a ton of variety in the box that anyone could enjoy. I found that even though the box is gluten-free, the items seemed very appealing to people whether they had diet specific needs or not. Even though there were some problems with this company in the past, the new management really seemed to pull things together. (As I’ve also heard from others from last month’s box.) Things are looking up for Taste Guru!
